Access google G-Talk when it is blocked(Trick)

Here I must admit that I should have included this trick a long ago but never mind, when google talk gadget was released I was not actually having this place. Here what I am including is very famous trick to open G-talk when it is blocked or restricted on network.

How to access gtalk when it is restricted by firewall

First lets see how it works, most of the time when you are using google talk client then it uses combination of ports and http to access the google server but when you use google talk gadget then it do all of its work through http requests and hence most of the system administrator do not block it or can’t block it. Though it can be blocked.

So how we are going to make it happen, all we do is use web based client for google talk or G-Talk. Also, in order to make it more convenient we will make sure that it always opens in sidebar so easier to use and chat.

How to open G-talk in firefox Sidebar : trick

It is quite simple.
1. Open this in your browser ie. firefox :
http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client

2. Now bookmark this in your firefox bookmark folder.
3. Goto your bookmark and navigate to G-talk shortcut, right click on it and goto properties and enable “Load this bookmark in sidebar”


You are done. Now whenever you will open gtalk web based client from bookmarks, it will open in sidebar.
