Many might be knowing about it already but I have to mention here. I first uses Google Desktop right when it was launched, reason.. was little weired, actually in my windows part, I was messing with registry and I messed up my windows search feature. So started looking for alternate way to search my computer. Accidently found this and liked it.

What is this actually ?

It is like your person computer crawler, which stores all information about your computer and files location in it and when you search it gives you fast.

How it works ?

According to Google, after first time installation, it crawls all files in your computer, makes a index out of them. For first time it may take hours but later on it keeps record of everything if things are updated or changed. It even cache the web pages you view, email etc so that you can search them faster and whenver you want.

Installation is easy in windows as well in linux and you will understand it right in the beginning as it is all about search. It has a quick search box.. so start searching. It also comes with a sidebar which can enhance your desktop by integrating Google Gadgets in it.
