Orkut just added another feature to make it more famous. Now they are allowing you to add friends from your yahoo, hotmail and AOL in the orkut. All you need is to select the email provider, give username password there which you use in it and voila, you can invite / add friends from other service provider also.
So Enjoy for one more reason to be on orkut.
Orkut is just getting better and better, why ? Because they are constantly implementing features what user are suggesting, they are not just coming with a whole lot of features but instead they are coming with features which makes orkut even more more fun.
They just launched new orkut feature by which you can now create custom groups for friends as we do on our mobile phone book :P. So it is even easier to maintain, though groups were their ie. as friend, best friend, acquaintances etc. but they were ready made and you can only use them.
But now as they have made it easier to define own group, rename current group, so it is of real nice use. eg.
If you work in a company and wanted to have list of employees who work with then just create group “company” and add all of them into it and list goes on . So it is cool and easy!
So how to use it ?
For that you have to follow following simple steps:
Goto Orkut Home Page —> Friend list —> Manage

Now orkut with new stuff, you can now upload 1000 pictures on orkut and also if you are Internet Explorer User then they have provided a bulk upload feature. Note that Internet Explorer . It works only on internet explorer for now and may be in future they will come up similar things for Firfox too.
So here is guide :
Log into your google orkut account using internet explorer.
Now goto :
Photos –> New Album (give name of new album and its description) –> Click Create
If this is your first time then you will be asked for installing activeX,
Click OK to Install it..

Here is the catch:
Google recently ie. Orkut recently launched a new feature by which now you can keep your community Private. What this all mean ? It means that if you make a private community then only the member of that community will get access to the community.
So how to make private community ?
It is simple, goto
Communities –> Create
And create your community, while creating select “Content Privacy to HIDDEN” .

This was really important ie. having some check on loads of email we recieve daily because of ORKUT. Though I had created another account for this so I was not worried at all.
But recently google ie. Orkut really took some nice step.
Here is the list google provided :
#1 Until now, you’ve gotten a message whenever someone you invited as a friend has accepted your request. Now the default for this notification is off. If you’d like to change it, go to settings, then the notification settings tab and check the box next to “new friend approvals.”
#2 You receive a message when you’re invited to join a community. If you’re getting a lot of these, we figured you might like to turn it off. To do so go to the notification settings tab and and uncheck the boxes next to “community invite notifications.”
#3 To prevent unwanted spam, you can no longer send messages to ALL your orkut friends at once. Now that we improved our feature to group friends, we thought that you can start using them to address only those who you know will want to receive your message.
#4 Messages to communities will only exist for moderated communities. Many of us join these because we want to associate the name and picture of the community and have it on our profile, but we don’t want to participate actively. This is common, and we call these “badge communities.” Strangely, sometimes people think it’s a good idea to email ALL members of these (often huge and unmoderated) badge communities, which translates into a whole lot of spammy email.
Google just added Hindi Transliteration facility to Google search and to orkut also.
How this works ?

First you need to goto google India page in Hindi. You can do find it here. http://www.google.co.in/hi

Once I discussed about Accessing Orkut behind firewall using two type of proxy.
Today I am going to post various web based proxy which might be helpful in that. Just for those who do not remember, web based proxy actually allow you to surf a website through them, ie. they connect to original server, give you data by their proxy hence allowing to access restricted website like orkut behind firewall.
Did you see, orkut is now really quick in adopting new features which were missing from long time, I think after implementation of new look to ORKUT they are now more comfortable to add new features to orkut. Another new feature added :
I missed this one from day one I joined orkut. Infact we are using such feature from long in messenger like Yahoo where whenever we a buddy, we can give a brief introduction about ourself making it easy for both for further friendship.

If you have noticed , then there is new feature now in orkut, it will actually allow you to disallow scraps for people who are not your friend.

While replying a scrap, you might notice a new feature added to Orkut. Most probably Orkut India. You will see a list of Languages in drop down menu and when you will select one language from that menu, you will see its keyboard online just below scrap, so you can type easily.

With use of HTML in orkut scrap, you can do few interesting things with scraps. Earlier we talked about changing font Size and also inserting blinking text in scrap.
Today, as many of our visitors asked, we are talking about inserting various types of font in scrap.
So we can actually have designer text in our scraps. There are few standard fonts available on internet so I am talking about them only. Most of the time they are available on all computers but do not expect them to work always, below I am going to show some and they are available at my computer as well as two other computer on which I have tested.

Orkut just added a nice small feature, that is [S][A][M] & [T][E][M].
Lets discuss:
Actually you will see [S][A][M] attached with profile or name of friends and [T][E][M] with name of community or community listings. They are shortcuts for certain links on orkut related to that user or community.

This trick is very simple, its nothing like something new yet many people do not think of using the feature this way.
All you need is to change few setting in your orkut account while you want to visit profiles in stealth mode and when you are done then set back to normal.
So login to your orkut account :
Goto Settings -> Privacy -> Profile Visitors
There select Hide profile visits
Now surf in stealth mode, no one will know that you visited their profile.

Orkut recently introduced yet another new feature, by this feature you will have a list on your ORKUT PROFILE HOMEPAGE showing who has done changes in their profile. It may include notifications of modification in their profile description, adding new photos to their profile, receiving new testimonial or uploading new youtube videos. So you will have list of recent changes done by your friend in front of you.
You may have seen many people announcing in their name area that new photo uploaded etc, I think this the reason for Google / Orkut guys to roll out this feature and is the source for inspiration for them.

Brief Introduction : We are going to talk about a script which can be installed on user’s computer and it can help user to automate various formatting task in ORKUT scrapping.
This post is specifically for Firefox user as it only works with FireFox. Firefox is one of the best browser available on internet. It can help you to save lots of time and better browsing experience.
I found a nice script here which actually ads a nice formatting toolbar to your orkut page. With the help of this toolbar you can easily format your scraps. You can add glittering text too. You can insert desired smiley just for single click of mouse. So basically this toolbar automates various process of scrapping which otherwise can be done manually too by adding required codes / text.
All you need is to install this script and start using it.

Orkut knows how to keep happy its visitors and how to make them feel special.
They have introduced 5 new languages for Orkut which means now you can browse whole orkut in the language you speak. The languages are Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil & Telugu. They will sure introduce more languages.

Yesterday Orkut rolled out much awaited new looks to ORKUT.
They Named it : True Blue Simplicity
Orkut, a social networking website from Google. It is one of the most accessed website in the world and top social networking website in Brazil & India.

Few days back orkut introduced a new feature in orkut. It is small yet nice. All it do is that it shows the communities which you and your friend are part of.
Since google allowed usage of HTML tags in Orkut Scraps, we have new place to play with it. Most interesting thing is to see which tag works and which one not.
Recently, blinking text was working on orkut scrap but seems it no more working.
Today we will discuss two ways to write an orkut scrap in bigger fonts. It will use HTML and a little of CSS. I think after learning few HTML tricks on and on for ORKUT, we will see huge pile of users who are aware of HTML coding in no time. lolz.

India has the third largest userbase on orkut & hence orkut pays a nice attention to Indian Events.
I am constantly seeing Orkut Logo being used for while is in tri-color as well as it resembles Hindi ie. Devnagari script layout in design. All in all, its good looking as well its a nice move to make Indian feel special.
A worthy enough to mention here.

We all know that recently Google allowed to use html code in orkut scrap. It was infact much needed.
I tested and if you have knowledge of HTML and CSS etc.then you can really amaze your friends.
One thing is to note that html codes going to work for only those people who are in your list of friends.

You can add image in two now its three ways.
1. Simply post the URL to the image, all files ending with .bmp .jpg .gif .png should appear as full image in scrap.

If you have to post links frequently on orkut and annoyed of image verification then you can simply use following technique..
Note: It will just bypass image verification but will not post live link
All you need is to replace / of http with its code ie. & # 4 7 ; and replace “.” with & # 4 6 ;.
So if you want to post : http://www.smsnshayari.com/big-google
Then it goes like:
http:& # 4 7 ;& # 4 7 ;www & #4 6 ;smsnshayari & # 4 6 ;com & # 4 7 ;big-google
PS: Here I have used spaces between them so remove the space while using on orkut.
So it will not ask you for image verification but keep in mind, the link will not be a clickable one, it will appear as normal text.
Google finally came up with 3 golden rules.. google says:

1. Don’t share: keep your username, password and personal information secret and change your password regularly.

In orkut, you can hide your display name, earlier it can be done by entering 0173 while alt key being pressed but it do not work anymore.
The trick we are going to share is as simple as copying a special character in place of your name in profile. To make it easy we have placed that special character in the text box below.

Ask for help for Access Orkut behind firewall.
Many institution, educational places, organization blocks Orkut and other social networking sites, sometimes using firewall, sometimes using using proxy servers. By firewall I mean, doing filtering using NAT etc.

Orkut recently launched a form where you can report about stolen communities..
This is what they say:
Hello to everyone in orkut land I know it’s frustrating that some people on orkut don’t play nice and try to steal other people’s communities
When this happens, please write into the Help Center for individual help.
It takes a lot of time to investigate these cases and attempt to restore communities, so it’s not very efficient to post them here, with only one Guide here to help out!
